A Message from the Town Manager: February 2024
When we turned the calendar page to February, despite the weather outside, the winter spirit is alive as Tenney Mountain has opened for the season with many events taking place. The lack of snow, wet weather and unprecedented winter flooding has not diminished the joy and excitement of winter for many.
On February 8th, the Town will hold the second Public Budget Hearing at 5:15pm at Town Hall. This meeting will include the reading of the Warrant Articles to be presented at Town Meeting on Wednesday, March 13th. You can attend in person, or connect via the Town of Plymouth’s Zoom link or watch on the PBTV Channels.
Town Elections will take place on Tuesday, March 12th at Plymouth Elementary School, the following elected positions will be on the Ballot:
Selectboard: 1 Position – 3 Year Term
Town Clerk: 1 Position – 1 Year Term
Library Trustees: 2 Positions – 3 Year Term
Cemetery Trustee: 1 Position – 3 Year Term
In addition, there will be (8) Zoning Amendments that will be included on the Ballot. To review the Amendments, please reach out to Joseph Perez, Planner in the Planning Department for an overview at 603.536.1731 or jperez@plymouthnh.gov.
Carol Fucarile, our Administrative Assessing Assistant for the last five years, will be retiring on February 28th. Carol has done an incredible job during her time with the Town, and we will certainly miss her.
Over the past year, I have been reflecting on how the Town better engages our diverse community and the many voices that are trying to speak on important issues. I believe we have made progress on this through the Town website, Newsletter and Social Media avenues. I have met with several residents over the past year to have a better understanding of their concerns and answer their questions. The reality is that many people feel unheard, and there is a broader challenge over how we make decisions when the community disagrees, I recognize that there is work to do to improve our communication, transparency, and responsiveness and this continues to be a priority for me.
