Plymouth State to undergo accreditation process

Plymouth State University will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit Nov. 5–8, 2023, by a team representing the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The commission is recognized by the US Department of Education and accredits approximately 220 institutions in the United States as well as American-style institutions overseas.

Plymouth State University has been accredited by the commission since 1955 and was last reviewed in 2013.

For the past year and a half, Plymouth State has been engaged in a process of self-study. An evaluation team will visit PSU to gather evidence that the self-study is thorough and accurate. The team will recommend to the commission a continuing status and, following a review process, the commission will take the final action.

The accreditation requirements include accepting public comments from students, faculty, staff, and members of the public. The process is intended to inform the commission about substantive matters related to institutional quality. It is not designed to address personal grievances or provide a remedy to individuals in disputes with institutions.

Comments will not be treated as confidential and must include the name, address, and telephone number of the person providing the comments.

If you would like to provide comment on Plymouth State University’s institutional performance and quality, please do so by using the webform at this link:  www.plymouth.edu/NECHEPublicComment , before November 8, 2023.
