Highway Department Update for December 14th

Administration:

  • Met with the Budget committee to discuss upcoming purchases.
  • As of December 14, 2023, our department is now responsible for the road maintenance of Chadderin Lane, Ski Lift Lane and Point of View Drive. We look forward to serving more of our community.
  • Ongoing FEMA work with last winters storm event.
  • We are in the process of hiring a new highway maintainer. We have interviewed several candidates and are very hopeful in hiring soon. If you are interested or know someone who is interested in working with our department, you may find more information on the Town of Plymouth website at plymouthnh.gov or please contact the Highway Department. Applications can be found on the Town website, Town Office, or at the Highway Department.

Crew Duties:

  • Several snow events; plow trucks and crew did well. There are basketball hoops remaining on roadsides that need to be taken off Town roads, as these create road hazards for our department. Please be mindful.
  • We had a vehicle participate in the Annual Christmas parade. Our crew decorated the Kenworth and the new Backhoe.
  • The last rain event created newly pot holes that our crew filled in, and the team was out chipping brush from the fallen tree branches.
  • Much of our staff has been out for unforeseen illness, please be patient and understanding.

 

 

Maintenance:

  • Replaced cutting edge and repaired the spreader on plow for the 2018 Kenworth
  • Repaired the spreader and replaced worn front tires on the 2017 Kenworth
  • Replaced rear tires and checked the engine light on the 2006 International truck
  • Repaired the sander chain and repaired the plow on the 2020 Ford F550
  • Repaired the plow piston on the 2010 International
  • Repaired the non-charging concern on the Sidewalk Tractor

Upcoming Events:

  • When we have nice weather the basketball hoops come out into the streets, please be mindful of having basketball hoops off the Town roads. This causes a hazard to our staff while doing roadwork and winter cleanup.
